Paste 8-bit groups such as 01001000 01101001. Spaces and line breaks are ignored, so you can paste formatted dumps directly. Every 8 bits become one byte of Base64 output.
Turn binary dumps from hardware registers, network packet captures, or microcontroller logs into compact Base64 for storage in JSON APIs and databases.
All processing happens locally in your browser. Large files are handled in memory and never uploaded to any server.
Binary to Base64
Pack raw binary into compact Base64 with our Binary to Base64 encoder. Paste 8-bit groups such as 01001000 01101001 from hardware registers, packet captures, or microcontroller logs, and get back the equivalent Base64 string ready for JSON APIs, databases, and tokens. Spaces and line breaks are treated as visual separators and ignored, so formatted dumps paste directly without cleanup. Input is validated strictly: only 0s and 1s are accepted, and the total bit count must form whole bytes, with a precise message telling you exactly how many bits are missing when it does not. Everything runs instantly in your browser with no uploads and no limits.
Why This Tool Exists
What makes this useful — and why I built it this way.
Paste Dumps Directly: Formatted binary with spacing needs no cleanup.
Exact Validation: Know precisely which rule failed and how to fix it.
Whole-Byte Guarantee: Output always represents complete bytes.
Compact Results: Base64 shrinks bit text dramatically for storage.
Local Processing: Data never leaves your browser.
When You'd Use This
Real situations where this tool saves the day.
Embedded Logging: Store microcontroller register dumps as short strings.
Network Analysis: Pack captured bit fields into JSON-friendly values.
Hardware Testing: Convert expected bit patterns into comparable tokens.
Education: Demonstrate how bits pack into Base64 characters.
Data Entry: Transcribe binary worksheets into shareable strings.
Using Binary to Base64
It's straightforward — here's how it works.
Paste your binary string (spaces and newlines are fine).
Click Process to encode it to Base64.
Fix any validation message about illegal characters or bit counts.
Copy the Base64 result for your project.
Questions People Ask
Honest answers about how this works.
Why must the bit count be a multiple of 8?
Base64 encodes whole bytes, and one byte is 8 bits. A leftover partial byte has no defined encoding, so the tool asks you to pad the final group (usually with leading zeros) until the total divides evenly by 8.
Does my data leave the browser?
No. Encoding happens entirely in your browser with built-in JavaScript functions. Nothing is uploaded, logged, or stored, so register dumps and proprietary bit patterns never touch a server.
Can I paste binary with spaces or line breaks?
Yes. All whitespace is stripped before validation, so groups like 01001000 01101001 and multi-line captures work exactly as pasted. Only the 0 and 1 characters themselves are encoded.
What characters are allowed in the input?
Only 0, 1, and whitespace. Anything else, including 0b prefixes, commas, or letters, triggers a validation error so a typo can never silently corrupt your encoded output.
