Text Rotator
Rotate through the alphabet with our classic Text Rotator. Supports standard ROT13 (commonly used for hiding spoilers on forums) and fully customizable Caesar cipher shifts from 1 to 25 positions for puzzles, word games, and light obfuscation. You can also enable ROT47 for obfuscating text with extended ASCII characters including symbols and punctuation. Each rotation operation is pure mathematical transformation executed client-side, meaning no data is transmitted to any server. Applying the same shift a second time restores the original text, so decoding is as simple as encoding. Results update live as you type, numbers and spaces pass through untouched in ROT13 mode, and the whole process finishes instantly even for long passages, all without an internet connection after the page loads. Useful for developers testing encoding functions, puzzle creators building escape-room-style challenges, or anyone who wants to obscure text quickly.

Worksheet Creation: Build cipher activities for classrooms and puzzle nights.
Using Text Rotator
It's straightforward — here's how it works.
Enter your secret message.
Select the shift amount or the ROT13 preset.
Optionally enable ROT47 for symbols and punctuation.
The rotated text will appear instantly.
Apply the same shift again to decode the result.
Questions People Ask
Honest answers about how this works.
Is ROT13 secure?
No. ROT13 is a simple substitution cipher used for hiding spoilers and light obfuscation, not for protecting sensitive data. Anyone who recognizes the pattern can decode it in seconds, so never rely on it for passwords, personal details, or anything confidential.
How do I decode text I encoded?
Encoding and decoding are the same operation. Set the same shift you used to encode and apply it again; the alphabet rotates back to the starting position and the original message reappears. With ROT13, running the tool twice always returns your input.
Does my text leave the browser?
No. The Text Rotator applies arithmetic shifts to character codes entirely inside your browser. Nothing is transmitted to a server or stored, which means you can obfuscate email addresses, internal strings, or puzzle answers privately on your device at all times.
Which characters get rotated?
In ROT13 and Caesar mode only letters A to Z and a to z shift; digits, spaces, and punctuation stay in place. ROT47 mode covers the extended ASCII range instead, shifting symbols and numbers as well as letters for broader obfuscation.
