Images are downsampled to a chosen target resolution and re-encoded with efficient compression, embedded videos and audio are passed through at their original quality by default, and unused theme parts and duplicate media are stripped from the package. You choose the trade-off between three levels, so a quick email attachment and an archive copy can use different settings, and a before-and-after size report shows exactly how much space each level saves. Because the work happens locally, your deck, its photos, and any confidential content stay on your machine, and the smaller file is handed straight back to you as a download.

What exactly gets reduced in the file?
Most PPTX size comes from images, so the tool downsamples and re-encodes them, removes duplicate and unused media, and cleans up leftover theme parts. Slide content, animations, embedded fonts, and video files are kept as they are by default, so the deck behaves the same afterward.
Does my presentation leave the browser during compression?
No. The file is unpacked, optimized, and rebuilt on your device, and only the smaller result is downloaded. Confidential slides and their embedded media are never uploaded or stored on a server, and nothing remains once you close the page.
My file barely shrank. Why?
Decks that are already lean, or that rely on vector shapes and text rather than photos, have little to compress. The size report shows where the space is going, so you can see whether images dominate or the content itself is the bulk.
