What image format is best for the emblem?
Short answer: Use a PNG with transparency. PNG keeps the emblem's edges clean when it is scaled over the stripes, and the empty regions let the flag color show through instead of a white box. Avoid JPEG for this, since compression introduces halos around transparent artwork and there is no alpha channel to preserve.
Can I really make a square flag?
Great question. No — the Custom Flag tool renders at a fixed 3:2 aspect ratio, which matches most national and decorative flags. If you need a square or another ratio, generate the flag at 3:2 and then crop it with our Shape Cropper or Crop tool, both of which preserve the exported resolution.
Does my uploaded emblem get stored anywhere?
No. The Custom Flag Designer reads the emblem with a local file picker and draws it straight onto the canvas in your browser; the PNG export is assembled client-side too. The file never reaches a server, so unreleased logos and personal artwork stay private after you close the tab.
