Great question. Yes, all PDF cleaning occurs entirely within your browser using pdf-lib. The file is never sent to any server.
Does image cleaning reduce pixel quality?
Visually, no loss at all. JPEG and WebP images are re-encoded at quality 95, which strips every metadata block while remaining indistinguishable from the original to the eye; PNG files are re-encoded losslessly, so their pixels stay mathematically identical. PDFs are scrubbed client-side and their page content is unchanged.
Where is my file processed and stored?
PDFs are cleaned entirely client-side and never leave the browser. Images are re-encoded in memory on the tool's endpoint and discarded as soon as the cleaned file streams back to you, so the original upload is never stored or logged.
