Does it support password-protected files?
Great question. Currently, our viewer is optimized for standard, unprotected .docx files. A password-protected document arrives encrypted and cannot be parsed, so remove the protection in Word first and reopen the file here. Password protection support is coming in a future update.
Can I really edit the document while viewing?
This is a read-only viewer; it renders the file for reading and never writes changes back to it. For editing document properties such as author or title, please use our Word Metadata Editor tool, which can modify those fields and return a new file.
Can I print the document or save it as a PDF?
Yes. The print button opens the rendered document in a separate window and calls the browser's print dialog, where you can choose a physical printer or the built-in Save as PDF option. The output reflects the clean reading layout rather than Word's original pagination.
Does it open legacy .doc files?
No, the viewer handles the modern .docx format only, since that is the package mammoth can parse in the browser. Open an old .doc file in Word or LibreOffice, save it as .docx, and it will open here just like any other document.
