Need a specific frame from a GIF or want to decompose an animation into its component parts? Our GIF to PNG Sequence tool is a high-speed deconstruction utility. It reads the binary structure of your GIF, identifies every individual animation frame (including disposal and delay methods), and renders them as high-quality PNG images. All images are packaged into a single, well-organized ZIP file for easy access. Extraction runs entirely in your browser using the browser's own ImageDecoder, so even a large animation never touches a server. The tool reports the frame count as soon as the file loads, then walks the sequence in order, rendering each frame to a canvas and saving it as frame-0001.png, frame-0002.png, and so on. You can scrub through the frames in the preview and download any single one, or take the whole numbered set as a ZIP.

Great question. Currently, our tool extracts the full sequence. You can easily select just the files you need from the resulting ZIP package.
Do the PNGs keep the original frame delays?
Each frame's delay is shown in milliseconds in the preview, along with its dimensions and file size, so you can rebuild the timing in an editor. The PNG files themselves are still images with no timing data, which is why the tool lists the delays before you download the sequence.
