How exactly does the water ripple animation work?
Short answer: The reflection tool samples each output row, mirrors the source image into it, then offsets the sampled pixels horizontally by a sine wave whose phase advances every animation frame. The phase shift is what makes the water appear to move, while the amplitude slider controls how far pixels are pushed from their mirrored position.
Can I really download the reflection image with a transparent background?
Yes. Set the backdrop type to Transparent and the area behind the reflection keeps its alpha channel instead of being filled with a color. The file is then written as a PNG, since JPEG cannot store transparency, and it downloads as reflected followed by your original filename so nothing you already have gets overwritten.
Which formats can I upload and what do I get back?
The Image Reflection Effect accepts JPEG, PNG, and WebP uploads — anything your browser can decode — and always exports a PNG, the only common format that keeps a transparent backdrop transparent. Choose a solid or gradient backdrop instead if the destination only accepts JPEG.
