The tool renders every page with PDF.js onto an in-browser canvas at 1x, 2x, or 3x the PDF's native 72 point-per-inch scale (about 72, 144, or 216 DPI), then encodes the canvas as PNG, so text, vector lines, logos, and diagrams stay sharp with no compression fringing. Each page is converted in sequence behind a progress bar, previewed in a grid, and downloaded individually or as a single ZIP named after your document. Because PDF.js paints every page onto an opaque white canvas, blank regions export as white instead of transparency, matching what you see in any PDF viewer. Processing is entirely local, so sensitive contracts, financial statements, and scans never leave your device. Since PNG stores pixels exactly, colors and hairline strokes survive re-saving, which matters when the image will be edited downstream.

Is PNG better for text?
Short answer: Yes, PNG's lossless nature ensures that text and sharp lines don't have the 'fuzziness' sometimes found in JPG compression.
Is my document uploaded for conversion?
No. Your PDF is parsed by PDF.js inside your own tab and each page is drawn to a local canvas, with the PNGs and ZIP assembled in browser memory. The file never reaches a server, so financial, medical, and legal documents are safe to convert here.
Will transparent backgrounds be preserved?
The renderer fills every page with a solid white background before drawing content, so blank areas come out white rather than transparent in both PNG and JPG output. If you need transparency afterwards, remove the white background in an image editor or with a background removal tool.
